Monlam Information Technology has been at the forefront of advances in Tibetan language information technology for over two decades. At its head is Geshe Lobsang Monlam, PhD, a monk and scholar who has dedicated his life to integrating Tibetan knowledge into the digital world. From a passion for instruments and computers, he created his first computer font in 2005, and subsequently developed 37 software programs that are made freely available for Android, iOS, Windows, and Mac OS. Monlam IT also produced the Monlam Dictionary App, which has been downloaded by millions worldwide.  In 2022, he and his team published The Grand Monlam English Dictionary, currently at 223 volumes. His latest initiative includes Monlam AI for Tibetan knowledge systems, including OCR, machine translation, speech-to-text, and text-to-speech technologies, and the application of these tools for the development of a Tibetan Digital Library Project.
